This book is a collection of 36 articles written by 75 educators who teach programming across disciplines and contexts. Our stories focus on teaching inclusively, driven by respect and curiosity, and learning with joy, openness, kindness, and community spirit. We are a grassroots teaching-focused community of practice who meet once a year in Edinburgh for a Winter School to discuss our teaching. Our students learn coding superpowers in psychology, music, medicine, business, art, maths, and many more disciplines. We understand coding as a way of thinking, problem solving, and empathising; not just typing words and brackets. But since many of our students did not learn to code previously, together we conquer their own (and society’s) misconceptions of what code is, and who gets to become a great programmer (spoiler: they all do!). This book collects stories, experiences, and insights from our teaching; we hope that these will inspire you and give you new ideas to incorporate into your own practice.
